Council information and service limits
What if we can’t check the council information?
Council websites vary. We’ll tell you what we can confirm and make any missing information clear.
The automatic check before you order
The automatic check looks for a matching reference and postcode in national planning data. You confirm the address, proposal, current status and comments deadline against the council’s own record. Paid policy research and document preparation take place separately after ordering.
An accessible council website does not mean we have checked your neighbour’s planning proposal. We do not bypass CAPTCHAs or access restrictions.
What you need to do if we can’t confirm it
Open the official council record. Check that the reference, address and proposal match your letter, that the application has not been decided or withdrawn, and that the comments deadline has not passed.
If your case otherwise fits the service, you may be able to continue after checking the council record and confirming the required details. We’ll explain any remaining limitations before you order.
Policy we cannot check
We include relevant planning policies in your objection letter only when we can verify they are current and applicable. Otherwise we leave them out.
